| Video Tours of Portland, Oregon Neighborhoods
Searching for a home online? Better yet, searching from a different state or country? If so, you may have some idea about Portland's neighborhoods, but I work firsthand with many people who relocate to Portland and know you probably have lots of questions. To help you understand what makes neighborhoods in Portland unique, I've created video tours of some of Portland's most in-demand, popular areas. Portland has more than 75 individual neighborhoods, not counting the suburbs. And while you won't find a tour for each neighborhood, hopefully you'll get an understanding of some of the housing styles, architecture, landscapes, feel and flair that accompany some of our "charm and character" hot spots. Please keep checking this website because more neighborhoods and suburbs will be added over time. If you have questions or need help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I've helped many satisfied clients move to Portland and would be happy to assist you as well. NW Portland Nob Hill You'll have a hard time finding a Portland resident that doesn't love the area known as Nob Hill. Historic homes neighbor new condos in an area populated by restaurants and shops. There are also numerous old properties and apartments that have been converted to condominiums as well. Studio condos can be easily found for less than $200,000. New condos start typically at $300,000 and up. And historic houses from the late 1800s and early 1900s sell for $600,000 and up.
Pearl District Some of the most expensive and trendiest real estate in Portland lies in the Pearl District, along with some of the city's best restaurants and nightlife. Home to thousands of condos and lofts with great views, "the Pearl" is a magnet for those wanting the upscale urban life. You won't find houses in the Pearl, but just about everything else. One bedroom condos typically start in the upper $200s. Two bedroom condos priced near or more than $500,000 are common. And of course, larger properties cost closer to $1 million or more.
Northeast Portland Irvington, Grant Park, Beaumont-Wilshire Northeast Portland stretches 162 blocks east of the Willamette River. Covering such a large area, just about every housing style and neighborhood can be found here. The most famous and popular neighborhoods in NE Portland are those "close-in," closest to downtown. This is where the historic Irvington neighborhood sits. Surrounded by cafes and pizza parlors, restaurants and markets, the Irvington neighborhood boasts some of Portland's oldest, most charming houses. Prices start near $500,000 and range to about $1 million. The Grant Park neighborhood is just to the east of Irvington with similar housing styles and home to Grant High School. Grant Park borders the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, continuing the traditional charm of yesteryear. Prices range from near $400,000 to $1 million.
NE/SE Portland Laurelhurst The Laurelhurst neighborhood is located in both Northeast and Southeast Portland. It's well known that many people who live in Laurelhurst grew up in the neighborhood. Yes, it's the charming! A wide array of architecture with pristine landscaping; that's typical of the homes in Laurelhurst. And within walking distance is Laurelhurst Park- a beautiful park offering neighbors and residents a natural, serene getaway in the heart of the city. Prices in Laurelhurst begin in the upper $400s and range up to or above the $1 million mark.
Southeast Portland Hawthorne I've had many clients from California tell me that the Hawthorne neighborhood reminds them of Berkeley. It's vibrant, unique, and edgy. Hawthorne is also classic in the sense that its' homes are from the early 1900s featuring period details and charm. In this neighborhood, you will find a diverse number of restaurants and nightlife. Prices for homes in Hawthorne tend to start near $400,000 up to $800,000 for very large, fully remodeled homes.
Eastmoreland Beautiful trees and pristine yards dot the neighborhood landscape in Eastmoreland. Housing styles are diverse and Reed College is next door. This is an area where the neighbors know each other and where the sense of community is strong. You won't find restaurants or local shops in the neighborhood, but you will find a beautiful setting. Home prices in Eastmoreland range from the mid $400s to $1 million.
Sellwood The Sellwood-Westmoreland neighborhood is one of Portland's classic "charm and character" neighborhoods. While it does have some larger homes, Sellwood tends to have smaller two and three bedroom homes in more supply. Take a five minute walk just about anywhere in the neighborhood and you're likely to stumble into a busy park, a packed coffee shop, or a fine restaurant. Home prices range from the $350s to $650,000.
